Mohamed Salah Extends Apology to Liverpool Dressing Room, Discloses Curtis Jones
Curtis Jones has disclosed that Mohamed Salah apologised to the team in the wake of the fallout from his public comments.
The Fallout
Salah was left out from a key Champions League match subsequent to voicing frustrations and stating his connection to the head coach had deteriorated.
“Salah is an individual and he can say his own stuff,” Jones told Sky Sports. “He said sorry to the group and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, I apologise.’”
The head coach has previously declined to disclose on whether he was apologised to from the veteran striker.
Looking Ahead
He emphasized that the team's response was unchanged. “He was his usual self, he had a big smile on his face and we all treated him normally,” Jones added.
He also noted that a player's desire to start is less of an issue. “I understand there are different methods you can handle situations,” he said. “But if a lad’s fine to just be on the bench, then I think that’s more of an issue.”
On-Field Response
Their results have been impressive in the period after the interview fallout. Jones believes the forward's comments were not designed to harm the team.
“When there’s been any sort of anger, it’s always been from a good place,” Jones concluded. “That chapter is closed and we’re building chemistry, performing and on a positive run.”
