Iran Claims Assault on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Regional Military Operations.

Thick black smoke was observed billowing near an site adjacent to the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet.

Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed missile attacks across the region in retaliation for a significant and continuing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone close to the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any destruction is not yet known and the US has yet to issue a statement.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - stated they have engaged and destroyed missiles in their air space.

In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

Operation "Truthful Promise 4"

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was attacking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on locations linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.

Regional Fallout

In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," it added.

The statement noted debris fell on a populated district in the capital, causing some property damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
