Former Physician Faces Assault Allegations Against 38 Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have stated that a ex- doctor has been charged with carrying out sexual assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were patients.
The Serious Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous sexual offences – some of which involve acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
One deputy chief prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
The charges follow what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
Breakdown of Charges
The charging documents outline the 45 charges he is charged with:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- 17 counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- One count of attempted penetrative assault.
