Fans Urge Custody of Individual Who Touched Ariana Grande
Loyal fans of the actress are calling for that a individual who breached a barricade and grabbed the actress during yesterday's Wicked: For Good debut be detained or deported from Singapore.
A viral video depicts the person identified as Johnson Wen pushing past media personnel and charging at Grande while the performers walked down a event pathway accompanied by fans.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo immediately wrested the shocked performer away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being escorted out of the premiere by event staff.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram recently that he was "let go after being detained", though legal records revealed that he was set to be present on Friday morning. It is not clear if he was faced legal action.
Record of Incidents
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Troll Most Hated", has crashed a performance. His Instagram feed includes clips of him disturbing other celebrity events, including jumping on stage at Katy Perry's Sydney concert in earlier this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers performance in the area last winter.
"Measures must be taken enforced against him as this is clearly a punishable act," stated an Instagram user, in a response to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his behavior.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" a different Instagram user wrote.
Fans Show Disapproval Over Grande's Safety
Many fans accused Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had revealed experiencing trauma-related anxiety after a suicide bomb attack at the finale of her May 2017 performance in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and harming many.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" wrote one more message on Instagram.
Some supporters also questioned event staff at the Thursday event for not being vigilant enough; while different individuals requested social media platforms to block Mr Wen's content.
Response and Event Details
In clips shared widely, Grande seemed surprised when she was touched by the individual. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen reassuring her while Mr Wen was removed by security.
Grande has not issued a statement on the situation, and the remaining proceedings proceeded as normal.
Many of attendees had congregated in a sea of colorful attire at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific launch in a Singapore shopping center, including several who had waited for as long as many hours before it began.
The film, to be released on 21 November, is the sequel of a dual interpretation of the popular stage show Wicked, which focuses on the unexpected bond between two contrasting sorceresses.
The show itself is a spin-off of the twentieth-century story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was dressed in a champagne pink sequin dress at the gathering while Erivo, who portrays the villainous character, wore a sleek black dress embroidered with roses.
They were accompanied by cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the most successful movie of 2024 in the UK, and earned 10 award recognitions, securing a pair for best costume and production design.
