Esteemed Performer Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Known For Parts in Seinfeld and The Middle, Dies at 60 Years Old.

US entertainer Pat Finn, who featured in iconic television series such as "Friends", Seinfeld and The Middle, has passed away aged 60.

The comedy and improvisation performer succumbed at his home in Los Angeles, California on Monday following treatment for a cancer diagnosis from 2022 onward, per reports.

"Pat Finn considered no one a stranger - just potential friends he had yet to meet," his family said in a announcement.

They continued that he had "lived his life fully - with joy and exuberance".

A Prolific Career on Screen

Finn's first television role was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he portrayed the brother of the main character.

He also had a regular part on "Murphy Brown" from 1995 to 1997.

He played the part of Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, portraying a social organizer famous for delegating burdensome jobs to his guests.

Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on numerous well-known programs, such as:

  • "King of Queens"
  • Friends
  • "That '70s Show"
  • House

His most famous role for portraying Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight seasons of the show from 2011 to 2018.

His cinematic roles are It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

Beyond the Screen

Outside of his television work, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a faculty member.

He was part of a comedy group of six called Beer Shark Mice.

"Finn taught, supported, and inspired countless students over the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find someone anywhere who has anything negative to say about him," his family wrote.

Paying homage, peer Richard Kind noted there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, grounded individual you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, helping you be funnier and better. A great dad, a great guy," he shared on social media.

The actor is survived by his wife Donna, his three kids, and his parents and siblings.
