Arne Slot Insists He Is Secure and Has The Club's Support Following PSV Loss

Arne Slot conceded that it's understandable for questions to be asked about his future following another heavy loss against PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their 9th loss in twelve matches, marking the team's worst streak after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I've received a lot of support from the top,” Slot stated.

“It would be great to reverse this trend and secure a win of course but if you are coaching a team and underperforming then it is normal that people question you.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my situation. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a difficult position but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Club Management

When asked to elaborate on his conversations with the team officials, the head coach explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive for the squad and for me and those talks happen but they don’t call me constantly each day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal discussions I sense the confidence. However I've not talked to them after this match yet so let’s see.”

Recurring Issues and Squad Reaction

The manager lamented familiar shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his view of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones stated.

“It’s just not good enough. I don't need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It's tough because I play for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a phase of this nature with results so bad.”

He concluded, “However we still have the crest on our chest. And as long as that badge is taken away, we will always battle.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad return to its rightful place, show everyone once more the values of this club and why it's known as the top club in the world.”

“However currently, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
